frozen dinner rolls, thawed but still cold

Spray a two baking sheets with cooking spray; set aside. On a lightly floured surface, roll each roll into a 5" rope. Place on prepared baking sheets. Cover with sprayed plastic wrap and let rise until doubled in size. In a large saucepan, fill two quarts of water. Stir in baking soda and bring to a boil. Turn down heat to medium. Carefully, place each stick, four at a time in water and let simmer for 15 seconds on each side. Preheat oven to drain on cooling racks. After drained, place each stick back on to prepared baking sheets. In a small bowl, combine one tablespoon water and egg. Mix well. Brush each stick with egg mixture and sprinkle each evenly with coarse salt. Bake for ten minutes or until browned on top.
